We've built in what enterprises need: security controls, audit trails, and self-healing reliability.

becoming a founding engineer

Being a founding engineer is not for everyone. You'll wear ten hats, make decisions with incomplete data, and debug production issues at weird hours.

But you'll also:

• Own entire systems — not just features. When something breaks, ships, or scales, it's yours.
• Sit in customer calls — watch them use what you built. Their problems become your problems.
• Shape the company — from our tech stack to our interview process to where we order lunch.
• Learn by doing — no abstract "exposure." You'll actually close deals, write docs, and make architectural decisions that matter.
• Master the zero-to-one playbook — invaluable if you want to start your own company someday.

who we are

We’re Alex and Tara — both former founding engineers ourselves who know what makes the role worth it: seeing your code process millions in transactions, abstracting the most complicated issues, and working with people who push you to be better. We believe in being in the same room—whiteboarding, debugging, riffing in person—and moving with intensity but believe the best work comes from people who have space to enjoy life outside of it.

Before Tightrope, Tara launched the HRIS API at Merge after starting her career at Samsara, while Alex scaled engineering at Stytch after starting his career at Coinbase. After seeing both our previous companies grow from 5 to 3,000 people, we founded Tightrope with backing from Amplify Partners.
